In-situ observation of nanowire growth from luminescent CdTe nanocrystals in a phosphate buffer solution.
One-dimensional (1D) structures of metal and semiconductor materials, often referred to as nanowires, have become a focus of interdisciplinary research in recent years both as a model system for studies of 1D quantum confinement effects and also because of their potential applications in electronics and photonics. A number of direct synthetic methods for the production of nanowires of controlle...
متن کاملCharacterization of Cr(V)-induced genotoxicity using CdTe nanocrystals as fluorescent probes.
CdTe nanocrystals capped by cysteamine were synthesized to study Cr(V)-induced genotoxicity. On the surface of TiO2 thin films, the stepwise process of DNA breakage induced by Cr(V)-GSH complexes was vividly observed by using CdTe-DNA self-assembled fluorescent probes; in acetate buffer solution, an analytical method was developed to detect Cr(V)-induced genotoxicity with CdTe fluorescent probes.
متن کاملSynthesis and Bio-Imaging Application of Highly Luminescent Mercaptosuccinic Acid-Coated CdTe Nanocrystals
Here we present a facile one-pot method to prepare high-quality CdTe nanocrystals in aqueous phase. In contrast to the use of oxygen-sensitive NaHTe or H(2)Te as Te source in the current synthetic methods, we employ more stable sodium tellurite as the Te source for preparing highly luminescent CdTe nanocrystals in aqueous solution. By selecting mercaptosuccinic acid (MSA) as capping agent and p...

Nanoparticle/nanowire assemblies with a degree of radial organization were prepared around luminescent semiconducting CdTe nanowires using bioconjugation with streptavidin and D-biotin linkers. Red-emitting nanowires (6.62 +/- 1.55 nm diameter, 512 +/- 119 nm length) and green-emitting nanoparticles (3.2 +/- 0.7 nm diameter) were surface-modified with biotin, while orange-emitting nanoparticles...
متن کاملBi-Assisted CdTe/CdS Hierarchical Nanostructure Growth for Photoconductive Applications
We developed a method to control the structure of CdTe nanowires by adopting Bi-mixed CdTe powder source to a catalyst-assisted chemical vapor deposition, which allowed us to fabricate CdTe/CdS hierarchical nanostructures. We demonstrated that diverse nanostructures can be grown depending on the combination of the Bi powder and film catalysts. As a proof of concepts, we grew CdTe/CdS branched n...
